Typical Classroom Session

All our sessions follow these main principles

The volunteers review key concepts and ideas from the previous week with the students.

0:10 - 0:25

The students are led through an activity to introduce the concept of similarities and differences

0:25 - 0:35

The previous activity is discussed with the students, and eventually, they are led to make a connection between similarities and differences with the concept of stereotypes.

0:35 - 0:55

The concept of stereotypes is reinforced through a classroom-wide role-playing activity.

0:55 - 1:05

The previous activity is debriefed to clearly link the activity with the concept of stereotypes.

1:05 - 1:15

The concepts of the day are related to concepts taught in the previous weeks.

1:15 - 1:30

The Word Wall is updated in each classroom with new concepts learned. In the Similarities and Differences unit, "The Butter Battle Book" is read to the students and they are encouraged to complete a weekly activity in order to solidify their understanding of the day's concepts.
